“Why I Write”- Clay Peretti
I realized that reading and writing were ways to express myself and to better understand others form a very young age. This helped me get into reading and writing in my younger grades but when I came into middle and high school I realized that writing was not as simple as I originally though and I did not have the aptitude for it like I did for the math and science classes. I had to really focus on my writing and reread it several times over to correct it. I have never enjoyed writing much but I know that it is very important and will effect me throughout my life. For example, I have been forced to study and write a great deal of essays for college applications showing how important writing is in my life. These same essays have forced me out of my comfort zone in writing because I have only been used to writing essays for school or projects with strict guidelines and outlines to help with the writing processes and with the college essays there were no such thing. It forced me to branch out and learn to write for myself and not follow the exact same writing styles as everyone else. Writing has never come easy to me but it pushes me to be a better communicator and think outside the box.
