Simplicity

She laid a while on the hillside
Staring out at the earth around her
She watched the clouds
The trees
The leaves
The birds
And she grew jealous
She hated
The weight of it all
She thought about simplicity
And how humans
Choose to make life complicated
And harsh
Stressful
The birds do not fret about paying their bills
The leaves are not conscious of how long their stems are
Or how heavy they weigh in the wind
And she thought about how
The trees do not worry or fight to be loved
And how the clouds do not plan their journey ahead
They each just
Live
And she smiled
She laughed
At the simplicity of it all
She chose
To live
