Boxed raises $111 million in Series D

Early Eniac-funded company, Boxed, announced a $111 million Series D led by Aeon Co. Ltd, one of Japan’s largest retailers. Boxed will continue to ramp up automation of facilities with hardware developed by Boxed’s in-house robotics team. Watch how robots make life better for the Boxed team.

Bleximo raises $1.5mm, led by Eniac Ventures, to apply quantum computing to real-world applications

Bleximo announced the close of a $1.5 million Seed round, led by Eniac Ventures, with participation from Boost VC, Creative Ventures and Gyan Kapur. Bleximo is building special-purpose quantum computation systems to solve the hardest data science problems across various sectors starting with drug discovery.

Founder Alexei Marchenkov is a fellow at the prestigious Cyclotron Road and one of the world’s top recognized quantum physicists. Bleximo’s initial focus is to speed up simulations of new materials and molecules for drug development. Read More

Autonomous-aviation startup Xwing takes flight with $4 million, led by Eniac Ventures, and teams with Bell for NASA 2020 Commercial UAS demo

Xwing, an autonomous aviation company, announced a $4 million Seed round led by Eniac Ventures with participation from Array Ventures and prominent angels and aviation buffs, including John and Patrick Collison, founders of Stripe, as well as Nat Friedman of Xamarin, Microsoft and GitHub.

Xwing also announced a partnership with Bell, Textron Systems, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Center for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere to demonstrate end-to-end commercial mission operations as part of NASA’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the National Airspace System project. Anchor opens doors to free podcast studio in NYC
Anchor, the fastest-growing podcast platform, opened up a free podcast studio in NYC. The Anchor Podcast Lab was born to continue to support making podcasting easy and free. Read more in TechCrunch and interested podcasters can sign up here.

Universe launches Timeline & partners with Shopify
Swiping > Scrolling. Universe, the app that lets you build a website in less than 90 seconds, just launched Timeline to let anyone build a website that swipes right from your phone.

The company also launched Shopify Block, allowing Universe users turn their websites into a digital storefront, complete with transaction, inventory and management capabilities.

Fuzzy to launch in NYC
Fuzzy Pet Health announced home visits across the greater NYC area. Fuzzy makes pet care easy with all-inclusive plans, including flea, tick and heartworm meds, vaccines and boosters. They’ll even come in the evenings and on weekends. Sign up for a free visit.

Fritz’s machine learning platform now open to all mobile developers
Fritz makes it easy to put machine learning into mobile apps. They offer pre-built APIs to solve common problems like image labeling and object detection. Everything runs directly on-device which means it works offline, at high frame-rates, and keeps sensitive data in the hands of users. Read more on TechCrunch.

The Viro platform now supports ARKit 2.0
Viro Media announced support for ARKit 2.0 enabling new features such as Continuous Image Tracking and 3D Object Detection. The platform also added other in-demand features such as custom geometry to a scene, ARCore 1.4.0 integration, animated GIF support and more. Learn more.

Eden now available to 65% of US offices
Eden, the fastest-growing office management platform, has reinforced its market leadership position with the launch of 17 additional metro areas, bringing its total to 20. Eden’s service is now available to 65% of offices in the U.S., and the company’s net revenue has grown more than 3x year-over-year. Read more in AP news.

Visual Vocal partners with McKinstry
Visual Vocal, a Seattle-based startup that develops and offers a cloud-based platform that converts 3D models of architectural designs into VR, has teamed up with McKinstry, a design-build-operate-and-maintain consulting firm. The partnership brings AR and VR capabilities of smartphones for increased efficiencies for facilities communication within the construction and facility service markets. Snips named one of the hottest startups in Paris
Snips, private-by-design, decentralized voice assistant technology and solutions, was named one of the hottest startups in Paris and one of the top 100 hottest startups in Europe. Read more in Wired.

Accel-KKR buys SugarCRM
SugarCRM was purchased by Accel-KKR in a 9-figure deal. Accel-KKR has committed substantial investment dollars to drive product innovation, services, expanded capabilities, and a strategic acquisition program.

Localytics Named Leader in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Marketing Platforms
The news comes on the heels of their announcement of Campaign Builder to help enterprises deliver a unique experience to each of their mobile users.
