Innovation and creativity are the engines of progress.

Most transmission line engineering projects put their focus on the mechanical design and the analysis of tensions and stresses borne by the physical asset. Electrical characteristics, and operation and maintenance features of the line once commissioned are seldom taken into consideration. Moreover, these electrical characteristics are considered static in the traditional models, which requires the use of great safety margins to avoid taking any risk.

However, the electrical and mechanical properties of transmission lines are dynamic. Thanks to the historical weather data and the analysis of the transmission line throughout time and along its route, Enline optimizes the design of the system and identifies risks and areas of improvement with accurate results. This improves the tower´s sizing, easements, and cables, and minimizes the number of towers and access routes.

Transmission line engineering is first provided by the client and Enline converts the design into a digital twin of the infrastructure. Then, its algorithms, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, run technical due diligence of the design. The result is an optimized design of the transmission line that minimizes the installation investment and the operational cost. In addition, it avoids long-term risks unidentified by the previous analysis.

TURNING DATA INTO VALUE

Enline is based on solid physics principles and advanced analytics that are used to model the present state of every asset in a Digital Transmission Line installation, using state-of-the-art techniques of optimization, control and forecasting, so that daily operation can be more accurately predicted according to availability, performance, reliability, wear and tear, flexibility and maintainability.

ENLINE FLEXIBLE INTEGRATION

The Enline platform is designed for user-friendly integration of all Enline products and services.

EMS

The growth of renewable energy share in the grid, characterized by a variable output depending on the weather, brings new challenges to the operation of transmission assets. The Dynamic Line Rating function of EMS helps transmission system operators to match grid variations safely with respect to thermal and electrical limits of the grid.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Real-time and predictive operating information of the
    transmission line.
  • O&M cost reduction.
  • Improved availability and increased reliability.
  • Enhanced operation flexibility.
  • Evaluation of asset health and expected lifetime.

E-DLR

Enline uses electrical data acquired from the automation network or a control center that gathers electrical phasors of the substations connected by the transmission line. Besides the electrical information of the substations, the software computes the thermal contributions that affect the cable temperature and sagging. The weather data hub combines different weather sources acquired from virtual and/or physical stations, third suppliers and other sources that comply with the digital twin parametrization requirements.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Monitoring of maximum allowable power.
  • Investment postponing of new transmission assets.
  • Availability increase.
  • Enhanced operating flexibility

EFL

In order to identify and predict failures, EFL uses proven and customized fault location methods in an innovative approach. EFL combines phasor, travelling wave, time-domain and customized techniques to attend the technical and safety requirements of the installation. As a result, EFL presents accurate outputs independently on the topology and fault impedances.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Increased availability time.
  • Track of multiple transient events.
  • Progressive cable rupture monitoring and total rupture
    localization.
  • Fault details with position and severity.
  • Reduction of operating risk.

EPO

EPO inputs are the phasors measurements acquired at the substations such us unsynchronized three-phase values of voltages, currents, active and reactive power. The combined interpretation of historical values and real-time information is the key to evaluate the behavior of the electrical branch between the acquisition points. After this interpretation, Enline server runs an optimization algorithm that searches for the best controlled variable such as active and/or reactive power that fulfils the optimal criteria. Finally, the best operating point is communicated in real-time to the governors of the controlled element.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Intelligent analytical system to increase overall asset
    performance.
  • Increase of revenues through electrical losses reduction right
    after installation.
  • Remote, quick and easy installation without downtime.
  • No need of synchro-phasors.
  • Dynamic parametrization of the grid.

E-VGM

Enline Vegetation Management System (EVMS) combines meteorological information on the ground with high-resolution multispectral satellite imagery to provide visibility and predictability of vegetation growth around transmission and distribution grids.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Focused action on individual trees.
  • Risk identification in real time
  • O&Mactivities can be planned well in advance
  • Support your field force
  • Manage your contractors efficiently
