A few thoughts on being a Forbes Influencer once again

Forbes Spain has once again been kind enough, for another year, to include me in its list of Best Influencers 2022 (link in Spanish), in the Business category. This year, apparently, the criteria for consideration have been revised, going, according to the magazine itself, “beyond the number of followers” in search of those who have “the best profiles to impact the public in the most positive way and take brands to the next level”.

I find the definition very interesting because I don’t do brands, I just talk about topics that interest me, regardless of whether or not there is a brand behind it. In general, I have no problem with that: I think it is perfectly possible to maintain academic neutrality even if a brand gives you the opportunity to learn about its products or services, as long as it allows you, within the relationship you have with it, to maintain total freedom of opinion.

Obviously, this means choosing brands you value, because no one wants a situation where you end up criticizing one you have a relationship with, but I believe all this falls within the context of the normal relationships that a person can have with the companies behind the products and services they use.
