Employers are finally recognizing that hybrid work is a sustainable model

It’s happening: despite the efforts of so many companies in the aftermath of the pandemic to force employees back to the office and return to pre-Covid working methods, the evidence shows that the hybrid model is the future of work.

Technology companies such as Amazon and Meta are reconsidering their office expansion plans and opting to abandon new leases, and instead redesign current infrastructure to better accommodate the needs of the hybrid work model, which allows people to come to the office when they want or work from home or elsewhere when they see fit. Apple is also rowing back from its insistence that people return to the office, and Google is beginning to see that its workplace culture is outdated and that table football and snacks are no match for the appeal of working from home.

The benefits to the employee are obvious: the convenience, the freedom, the ability to take breaks when you see fit, and no need to spend two hours or more stuck in gridlock. If you have to see your team or someone in person, want to use the facilities to meet a client, or just feel like socializing, then the office is there, with the flexibility to do so on a day and time that suits you, and you’ll find offices redesigned to accommodate just those kinds of needs.
