Threatened with losing its two-decade domination of the search market to generative chatbots, Google is working hard to create new features, for example, that use AI to plan a vacation or select images by swiping right or left, á la Tinder style, to improve fashion recommendations.

This type of innovation is by no means alien to the company. Over the years, Google has come up with changes and new features to adapt to the impact of platforms like TikTok that have changed the way young people search for stuff on the internet, along with new ways to deliver results for specific types of searches such as currency rates or time changes, mathematical operations or equations, etc. — as well as including answers from Reddit or Quora.

This time, however, the threat is in response to an algorithm actually understanding what the user needs and being able to search the entire web to deliver it to them precisely as they need it.
