Here’s how to put your digital vaccination certificate on your Wallet

Searching for information vaccination certificate formats in the EU, I came across this page from the Luxembourg government where Thibault Milan, a user experience expert, has created a simple, open source program that allows people to scan a digital EU COVID certificate with their smartphones (or use the screenshot of the one he already had) and store it in their passbook, with all the data processing done on the device itself and without having to send any information to a remote server. It works with Apple Wallet on the iPhone and other programs of the same type on Android — I tested it with PassAndroid, but there are others.

I’ve found it a simple and practical way to keep my vaccination certificate handy on my device, rather than the usual screenshot, which involves searching through photos or files, or using the paper printout I was given at the vaccination center, which by now looks like a pirate treasure map. The process involves reading the QR code of your vaccination certificate (printed or already in digital format on your device), extracting and analyzing the information using the Europe eHealth Network Digital Covid Certificate Payload, and generating a file compatible with common e-wallet applications, to which it adds a blue background and the twelve stars logo.
