Among the trends highlighted out by Gartner in its ten strategic technology trends for 2023 — a kind of crystal ball that the consulting firm claims to have and that nobody knows if it detects things or generates them — is the idea of a digital immune system, along the lines of biology, which would be responsible for ensuring an adequate experience for a company’s workers, without subjecting them to the torture systems they have to suffer simply to work on their systems, while maintaining security and robustness against attacks.

How to develop such a system? Gartner’s idea would use artificial intelligence, more specifically, machine learning. If we are able to feed a database with the most common use patterns of corporate systems, in theory, we could characterize that use to the point of detecting when those patterns are no longer normal, given that they probably represent some kind of problem, from employees not doing what they should be doing, to an intrusion of some kind.

If we are able to properly observe all the tasks that someone performs within the system, the levels of automation that ensure a comfortable and convenient operation for its users, and an extreme test management policy for anything that falls outside the usual behavior or patterns, we should be able to ensure a much easier and comfortable…
