The news of the day has to be Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, which has seen the immediate dismissal of several of its senior executives, including its CEO, Parag Agrawal.

What are we going to see in the coming days or weeks? Obviously, a lot of changes: Musk is not a particularly slow decision-maker, which means that many of the broad outlines of what we can expect from Twitter will be fast-tracked.

What are the key challenges facing the company? In my view, three: content and moderation policies; fake accounts, and the business model. In the first area, we can expect the real policies instead of an anything goes policy that has simply encouraged trolling, insults, harassment and worse. Complaints regarding violations of its policy were ignored, how gross. With Elon Musk at the helm, interaction policies are expected to be clearer and, above all, more enforceable, more effective.

Closely related, fake accounts: Twitter has long encouraged users to set up fake accounts, which half-baked influencers, communication directors, politicians, scammers and anyone who wanted to pretend to be more relevant than they really were took advantage of. We can only hope that Musk will take a proactive approach to cleaning up Twitter.
