From my position as an active academic who teaches about innovation, an area my students are constantly discussing with me, I am increasingly thinking about how AI will progressively replace the key areas of what we might call our personal productivity ecosystem.

There is much discussion of the challenge (or not) that AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and others pose to Google’s hegemony as more and more people use them as search engines. Indeed, companies like Perplexity.ai and OpenAI want us to focus our access to information much more directly, even thinking for us.
