Who is AI for, us or Big Tech?

If we’re going to avoid the mistakes of the past, we have to understand what will happen if, as everything seems to indicate, Big Tech takes over AI, the result of which will be that instead of being a powerful tool that will improve our lives, it will be merely another advertising vehicle.

As I have discussed before, I believe that commercial interests are colonizing large language models, a concern that is supported by recent developments in the tech industry, as companies like Meta and OpenAI integrate AI into their advertising strategies and corporate structures.

AI is increasingly being used by the advertising industry. For example, Meta has announced that it aims to fully automate advertising using AI. Goodbye agencies, goodbye creatives, goodbye to the entire traditional industry as we know it. Mark Zuckerberg stated that companies will be able to simply state their goals, and that Meta will take care of everything else: from content creation to segmentation and metrics, all powered by AI.
