A glass flew and shattered against the wall. The spectators were getting restless, and Roe felt the ticking clock on her next move.

She’d been stalling to shore up her defense. Whatever her next offensive strike was, it had to be clean. It had to be certain. She couldn’t panic or lose her temper, or they’d all see what she was, and the game would be up.
