I basically came to the conclusion that I couldn’t wait for someone to give me an opportunity that I wanted. I had to create it for myself.” — Asha Dahya

After a successful decade in the television industry working with MTV, Food Network, Disney, ABC, and other prominent broadcast companies, Asha Dahya craved purpose and more meaningful work.

In this episode of Value Added, a podcast dedicated to talking to people who are creating value in the world, we talk to Asha about how she finally discovered her passion and the courage it took to launch the online news publication GirlTalk HQ dedicated to empowering and inspiring women.

Recognizing there is a gap between what the media reports and what women are doing and the issues they are facing, Asha saw an opportunity to use her talents and ambition to fix that. Her website, which gears towards curating meaningful content beyond superficial women’s interests stories, was launched without endless resources or a perfectly laid out plan. Today, the site is visited by thousands of women and men per month.

GirlTalk HQ is the product of Asha’s passion and drive to add value to the world. Listen to the episode on iTunes or SoundCloud and remember to subscribe. And be sure to reach out to Asha on Twitter or on GirlTalkHQ.com.
