Building a community — one day at a time.
Enspiral Dev Academy just hosted our very first ‘A day in the life’ taster programme in Auckland. This is a day for people who are thinking about a career change into technology to dive in and see if this whole coding thing is right for them.
It’s a fun day. We work through basic pair programming exercises, learn some key fundamentals, practice some basic skills and people who have never written a line of code before often walk away pretty amazed by what they can do after just one day.
It’s also a glimpse into something much bigger…
Learning with a community
Helping people start a career in technology is not just about teaching code. Far from it. It’s about helping people to learn how to learn and to help them achieve more than they thought possible.
One of the most powerful ways to do this is in a community: To learn by doing, alongside others who are doing the same thing and hitting the same challenges together.
Building a learning community is a lot of work. It’s a big part of the challenge (and fun!) of bringing Enspiral Dev Academy to Auckland.
But ultimately, it is totally worth it and what makes us, us. It’s awesome to see people’s confidence go through the roof and completely change what they think they can achieve — even after just one day.
By the end of the 18 week programme most students completely surprise themselves by what they are capable of achieving in such a short time and, teaching great technical skills aside, that is the real work behind what we do.
We’re just getting started.
The team in Auckland are excited to have open doors and ready to help more great people step into technology — one day at a time.
