Quantum Technologies x Climate Crisis: A Thesis
We write this piece very hesitantly. Though filled with enthusiasm & optimism, we’ve felt an urge to provide clarity to this intersection between quantum and climate, as those who have specific knowledge in both domains is few.
TL;DR
The Climate Crisis is urgent & important; though complex to solve for. How we make things, plug in, get around, live, grow things needs to evolve. It’s a systemic problem, where timing is of essence with a rapid increase in public pressure, carbon costs & green-washing. Being wary is needed, being decisive is essential.
Applied Quantum Information Science presents a new paradigm of deep technologies, opening up new possibilities across computing, imaging, sensing, metrology & communications. Hybrid & modular approaches are rapidly maturing with accelerating learning curves improving performance & accessibility as well as driving down cost curves.
We present a thesis that simplifies the technology potential, provides clarity on the state of the art today & outlines opportunities in this niche intersection. Our work has led to the discovery of 80+ highly valuable use cases across 6 thesis pillars; covering solutions from nature to buildings, from energy to agriculture, from industy to transport.
We are open to collaboration with interested parties. Details at the end.
