Cryptovoxels and EnterDAO partner up to bring permissionless land renting through LandWorks
Cryptovoxels, home to one of the most vibrant communities in Web3, is a virtual world and metaverse, powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Players can own land, build experiences like stores, galleries, party spaces, as well as attend immersive metaverse events.
The metaverse is heating up to be the next big digital space. Developers, artists, brands and players are creating more and more virtual experiences to engage their communities, driving up the demand for land (virtual real estate) in metaverse games. With the barrier to entry increasing, access to land rather than ownership is a major enabler for those creators.
Enter LandWorks.
LandWorks
LandWorks is a product of EnterDAO that enables permissionless renting of metaverse land on the Ethereum blockchain. The protocol has been live for almost 3 months now and has undergone two audits by Omega and Quantstamp. After a successfully passed governance proposal by EnterDAO last week, Cryptovoxels land renting is coming to LandWorks.
Land renting in Cryptovoxels
Renting of Cryptovoxels land will soon be possible through LandWorks, enabling the Cryptovoxels community to 1) earn passive income on their land by lending it or 2) create experiences and events without the necessity of buying land NFTs long term.
Payment Options
Any lender, depositing land is able to configure the payment type in which they want to charge rent. The supported payment types are a whitelisted set of assets. Currently supported payment options are ETH and USDC.
Protocol Fees
There is a default protocol fee of 3% (charged from the lenders) every time a renter pays rent to the landowner.
LandWorks NFTs
An ERC-721 token (NFT) is being issued to the land depositor (referred to as LandWorks NFT) once a given land is listed in the protocol. The NFT holds information on the metaverse (Cryptovoxels),tokenID (the original asset being deposited) as-well-as other LandWorks related data.
LandWorks NFTs implement the ERC721 Consumable Extension.
The metaverse should be open to anyone and we’re hoping that this integration is a step forward in that direction.
