What is it? Universal App Install platform to address problem of generic app pre-loads. Enables device manufacturers to optimize and load unique apps optimized for their hardware and capture more share of app dollars.

Who uses it? Lenovo, Toshiba, Acer, HP
Why is it better? Sweetlabs has dynamic pre-loads, a “Getting Started” app, lots of app insights tools and an app ad network. Looks slick.

AppDirect (appdirect.com)

What is it? Leading commerce platform for selling cloud services. Enables companies to build their own Apple store like app marketplaces.
Who uses it? Deutsche Telekom, Rackspace, Telstra
Why is it better? Companies can create their own website marketplaces (or internal portals) AND enable their resellers. Strong monetization focus.

Thingworx (thingworx.com)

What is it? Enterprise ready solutions and IoT Platform. Subsidiary of PTC.
Who uses it? TU Darmstadt, ICURO
Why is it better? Lots of developer tools to create and deploy apps, strong analytics and an extensive marketplace.
