Being in the Khardashian-Jenner family, it is a brand all in itself. Every member of the family has been brought to the spotlight not just from their reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Khardashians, but from personal apps, clothing lines, magazine covers and more. One woman in particular, Kylie, is seeing unprecedented success with her new makeup line: Kylie Cosmetics.

Kylie Jenner’s image is one that is undoubtedly recognizable with her curvaceous body, but more noticeably her lucious lips. Her lips became a trademark; a center of attention for memes, the “Kylie Lip Challenge,” etc. After substantial hype surrounded her lips, she decided to use it to her benefit and create a makeup line that first started with matte lip colors. Calling them “Kylie Lip Kits,” these products consisted of a liquid matte lipstick and lip liner. Kylie promoted her new lipsticks all over her Instagram account, as well as showing her followers on Snapchat swatches of the new colors on her skin.

In the early stages of this makeup line, the only way to purchase the products was by having her personal app. On there, she would release the date and time of when her website would be open to the public. Within minutes, her lip kits sold out. Sometimes, so much traffic would be filtering through the site that it would crash. Having such a limited supply of products created a frenzy which was an amazing promotional tatic. As Kylie realized that the demand for her products was exponentially increasing, she began to tell her followers on Instagram and Snapchat when her next supply was going to be available; people didn’t need to receive updates from her personal app anymore.

Since the creation of her line, she has successfully added lip glosses, eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners and more to her makeup family. Kylie Cosmetics is now currently a site that you can visit whenever you please, but good luck trying to purchase your favorite products. Still having limited supplies, she restocks whenever she can. And whenever she creates new colors, holiday packages, etc., people still have to tune in to her Snapchat or Instagram to see when the new releases will be.

Seeing her makeup brand prosper to what it has become as of late, she is opening a pop-up shop in Los Angeles dedicated solely to her line and merchandise. The grand opening of the store is set to be December 9, 2016 while supplies last.
