Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is designed to deter device theft. When FRP is enabled, previous users’s account is required during the setup wizard to authenticate the user after a factory reset.

In an enterprise environment, providing employees with corporate devices and employees providing personal accounts for FRP will cause an issue where the devices cannot be reused or given to another employee unless the personal account details of the previous account is known in the case of factory resetting the device.

In such a case, Enterprise Factory Reset Protection (EFRP) solves the problem by having a master account created by the IT admins to be used for FRP and this enables the re-use of devices.

Enterprise Factory Reset Protection using Entgra MDM

Entgra MDM has the capability to add policies. Policies can be pushed to devices in groups, devices of specific users, devices belonging to users in specific roles.

Enterprise Factory Reset Protection can be easily pushed to devices via policies. This policy requires the email address which should be used after factory reset and the User/Account ID of the email address provided.

Check out Entgra documentation on how to retrieve the account ID of the google account.
