My Job is Starting to Feel Like Work
A little experiment in personal perseverance — Day 5
Hello, my darlings. I hope you are all doing well. This is day 5 of my little experiment in just writing. I didn’t post anything here on Medium yesterday, but I did write a piece on my blog, Priestess of Words, titled Everyday Writing Every Day. It’s about writing about everyday things, every day. (Say that three times fast.)
Though it’s the 6th, I’m calling this post my Day 5 piece. I did actually write something on the first. I wrote it in my journal, and no one else will ever see it, but I did write something, so this is technically Day 6.
It’s been a little difficult writing the past couple of days. My new job is kicking my ass. I knew taking on this position at my age was going to be a challenge, but wholly buckets, I’m spent.
I’ve worked in the hospitality industry since I was 15 years old. I’m almost 57 now. That’s a long, flipping time. I’ve done just about everything you can do in either a restaurant or a hotel. I’ve been a waitress, a hostess, a dishwasher, and even a cook. I’ve been a front desk operator, a housekeeper, a linen department employee, and have even done a little maintenance work.
