Okay, Who Took My Pen?

I have a question. Does anyone else out there have an ink pen fetish? Is it just me? I have this weird obsession with pens.

I have drawers full of pens. About once a year, I sit down with a notepad and go through them one by one to see if they still work. It’s probably the only time many of them have been used since the last time I ink-checked them.

I spent years as a waitress and had pockets full of pens. There was a time when I’d be more worried about another waitress stealing my pen than stealing my tips. I have to be honest, though. I probably stole as many pens as I had stolen from me.

I’ll sit down with a handful of pens and write my full name out with each one. The ones that make my handwriting look the best get tossed in my purse, while the others get thrown in the drawer. They’ll still get used, just not as much.

I’m just as weird about pencils. Some pencils write better than others. Mechanical pencils are my favorite, but I have hundreds of regular pencils I need to use. You’d think I’d go through them like butter with my need to have them as sharp as possible, but no. I’m pretty sure they’ve been multiplying on their own.
