NAFTA Renegotiations and Factories

The messaging from the White House about trade negotiations within North America has stayed consistent. We can expect for this to continue to move forward, but keep an eye out for any aggressive changes during the 2020 election cycle in an effort to excite the Republican base.

Medical Bill Transparency

President Trump is using this potential rule as a talking point to back up his message of looking out for citizens’ healthcare rights. It will be interesting to see if special interest groups make adjustments or get the Rule repealed outright before it is finalized.

Abortion and Neonatal Research

President Trump asked Congress for $50 million to fund neonatal research and legislation which would ban late-term abortion at the federal level. Trump has supported the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (US-S160) in the past, which failed in the senate. There has not been a planned announcement on whether the $50 million will be going to the private industry or federal agencies to conduct the research.

High-Speed Internet in Rural Areas

Trump’s plan is to expand the 5G network in rural America, legislation has yet to be introduced regarding this issue. It can come down to a budget debate regarding FCC funding of the program. It’s good to keep an eye on which interest groups support this initiative some that could benefit are healthcare, defense, agricultural and oil.
