Lord Hanuman, son of the Wind God, Vayu, is considered the greatest devotee of Lord Rama. His loyalty and devotion to the Lord are legendary. Lord Hanuman is known for courage, power, love, compassion, devotion, and faithful, selfless service. This multifaceted and powerful god is worshipped by millions of devotees all over the world for his bravery and strength. We see a global spread of famous Hanuman temples and tall statues, especially in India.

Hanumanji is also called as Anjaneya and Anjaniputra (son of Anjana his mother), Maruti and Vayuputra (son of Marut (air) and Vayu (wind),and Bajrangbali (one who is as strong as a diamond). In the present time, if a person wishes to get courage and strength in his life, he is advised to worship Lord Hanuman. This is because, in Hindu mythology, Lord Hanuman is said to be the most powerful deity.

As a sign of devotion, his millions of devotees have built a number of tall statues in India and outside India. Let’s have a look at some of the tallest Hanuman statues:

1. Madapam Hanuman Statue,

Height: 176 feet

Number one in our list of tallest Hanuman statues in India is at Madapam, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. This statue is 176 feet tall and known as Madapam Hanuman Statue. In 2005 a Hanuman devotee got a dream where he was told to make a huge statue of Him by Lord Hanuman. He started to collect donations and fulfill his dream. Starting with almost 1 crore rupees, the budget allocated for the making of the tallest Hanuman statue is estimated to be Rs. 1200 crores, and soon it will be ready to provide massive sight.

2. Paritala Anjaneya Temple

Height : 135 Feet

Veera Abhaya Anjaneya Hanuman statue is said to be the second tallest statue in the world. It is situated n the village of Paritala, near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
The statue established in 2003 is constructed with pure white marble and is 135 feet tall. It has also been awarded by the Limca Book of Records.

3. Hanuman Statue at Damanjodi

Height: 108.9 Feet

Damanjodi is a town located in the Koraput district of the Indian state of Odisha in the Eastern Ghats.

In this town, and situated in NALCO colony is the world’s third tallest statue of Hanumanji with a height of 108.9 feet. The statue is so located that it can be seen from any part of the town.

4. Jakhu Hanuman Temple, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh

Height: 108 feet

The fourth tallest Lord Hanuman statue at Jakhu Hills in Shimla Himachal Pradesh is deemed as the pride of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, and overlooks the city. The statue towers high among the trees and is visible from several parts of Shimla. The title of the world’s tallest statue constructed at a height of 8054 feet above sea level, goes to Jakhu Hanuman Statue situated at Jakhu Hill, Shimla’s highest peak. The beautiful red colour statue is 108 feet long. The budget of this statue was 1.5 crore rupees.
It is said that Lord Hanuman stayed there once when he was in search of Sanjeevni Booti.

5. Sankat Mochan Hanuman, Delhi

Height: 108 feet

The fourth tallest along with the Jakhu Hanuman statue and at 108 feet, Shri Sankat Mochan Dham Hanuman statue is a beauty of Delhi and one of the major public attraction. The statue is a wonderful piece of art, engineering & technology. Tuesdays and Saturdays are special days. The main attraction is that on these days during Aarti, a spectacle unfolds and the arms of Hanumanji’s statue which are held across, move back and as the chest slides open devotees get a wonderful glimpse of the beautiful images of Shri Ram & Devi Sita, in the heart of Hanumanji. The hands of the statue move, making the devotees feel that Lord is tearing his chest and there are small idols of Lord Rama and Mother Sita inside the chest.

6. Hanuman Murti in Nandura, Maharashtra

Height: 105 Feet

At 105 feet, it is one of the tallest Hanuman statues in India along with Hanuman Murti located in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is situated at Nandura Buldhana in Maharashtra state. This idol is the major attraction on NH6. This is built with white marble but with different colors in the right places. It is also mentioned in Limca Book of Records.

7. Hanuman Dham, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Height: 105 feet

Located in the middle of the River Khanaut, in the historical city of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh stands one of the tallest Hanuman statues. The height of the statue is 105 feet but the mountain on which it is installed is 25 feet high; so practically the total height of the statue is 130 feet from the earth.

It is of saffron colour and the orange coloured statue of Lord Hanuman is very attractive.

This multifaceted and powerful God is worshipped by millions of devotees all over the world for His bravery and strength, hence as a mark of devotion to the powerful God, His devotees have built tall statues not only in India but outside India too. Just to name some tallest Hanuman statues outside India:

1. Carapichaima, Trinidad and Tobago:

Height: 85 feet

The tallest Lord Hanuman statue outside India is a magnificent 85 feet tall statue of the Hindu God is located in the village of Carapichama, Trinidad & Tobago. Built according to Dravadian style of architecture in South India, this is the largest Hanuman Murti outside India.

2. Delaware, US:

Height : 25 feet

Hockessin, a city in New Castle County, Delaware, has become the home to the tallest statue of Lord Hanuman in the United States (US). The city has installed a 25-feet-tall statue of Lord Hanuman in its biggest Hindu temple.

The weight of the statue is around 45 tonnes and has been shipped from Warangal, Telangana to Delaware. More than 12 artisans worked full-time in Warangal for over a year to carve out the statue from a single block of black granite.

Friends, devotees pray to Lord Hanuman for strength, courage & protection. No wonder He stands tall as His statues indicate and His magnificence is a reminder to all devotees that they should grow in height spiritually.
