Rio Updates — August
Welcome to our new Rio Updates!
Thanks for taking the time to read about our work. We had quite a month, ranging from our rebranding to receiving the new Threadripper processor for the next monster we’re building. So let’s get to it, shall we?
Tech and Operations
EOS Independence day!
Our infrastructure was ready for the EOS mainnet upgrade and Hyperion is fully compatible with Leap 3.1. We released Hyperion v3.3.6 to mark the official compatibility with Leap 3.1 and provide some usual fixes and improvements. https://github.com/eosrio/hyperion-history-api/releases/tag/v3.3.6
We were also present on the Go/No-Go call for the EOS mainnet upgrade to Leap 3.1, celebrating the EOS Independence. Having been on the EOS mainnet since its launch 4 years ago, this was a historical moment for EOS worth mentioning here.
Heart of a Beast
Everyone knows that a CPU is the beating heart of every computer, and we just happened to get our hands on one hell of a Heart with the new Threadripper PRO CPU. To tell us more about it and our next steps in tech and operations here is our CTO, Igor Lins e Silva:
Igor Lins e Silva, Chief Technology Officer:
“With the arrival of the new generation Threadripper Pro 5000 series, we are building a new server focusing on great expansibility. This machine will be able to receive up to 2TB in RAM, which is perfect for the growing states of the chains we work on. As for storage, we already added 46TB, and there will be plenty of expansion options available thanks to the massive amount of PCIe lanes on the platform. The primary goal of this server is to add more redundancy options for full state-history nodes.”
Community
New Face, Same Killer Team
With the recent unveiling of the EOSIO rebranding effort (now known as Antelope IO), we felt that our brand should also evolve beyond EOS Rio, considering that the protocol itself also became a part of a larger set of chains that build together. As such, we thought it was time to put a new face forward called Rio Blocks.
You can read more about the details of it all on our announcement post, but suffice it to say that we are the same dedicated and talented team you know and love; we just got a new polish!
EOS Rio will still be our producer name on the chains we already were validators on, so you can still vote eosriobrazil on EOS, WAX, Ultra, Telos, FIO, Proton, and Libre networks. 😉
Extra! Extra! We have a Newsletter!
We decided to start a newsletter in Portuguese to help our Brazilian community stay informed on all the news of the chains we service.
On Hash Digest, we select the biggest stories of the week and put them together in an easy-to-read format for our subscribers.
There are even small video versions of our newsletters, posted every Friday on our BR Twitter feed! If you happen to know how to read Brazilian Portuguese and want to subscribe, you can do so here and follow our Twitter here.
If you’re a telegram user, we’ve also got you covered! Starting this week, we are also publishing our newsletter on our Telegram channel, which you can join here.
Modding up the WAX Discord server
The Brazilian community just got a big win this week on the WAX Discord server! We got our very own Brazilian Portuguese text channel, and Larissa and Patrick from our team are moderators there.
With this effort, we plan to bring the latest WAX news as well as provide support for any Portuguese-speaking people that need assistance with anything related to WAX!

Rio Blocks goes to the Blockchain Rio Festival
At the start of the month, our CEO Thiago Canellas attended the Blockchain Rio Festival. There, he met up with many of the great minds spearheading what’s next for the blockchain scene in Latin America.
The event happened over 4 days in the bay area, Porto Maravilha of Rio de Janeiro, which loosely translates to Wonderous Port.
