Block Producers and Activism: Personal Dealings with Block Producers

EOS 21’s purpose is to help non coders understand EOS and the impact that the protocol has on us all

An essential part of the EOS governance system is that there are block producers who, well, produce blocks for the EOS mainnet. These block producers are voted in by EOS holders and collect the mining rewards (approximately $7 million annually).

With moving over AAA and HODL Earth to EOS, over the last month we have dealt with many people within EOS to try and seek help and assistance. With EOS, the main aspect is community. With people such as SVK holding large meet-ups and networking events and telegram conversations we have spoken and connected with a lot of block producers and have seen what they do for the community at large and why they deserve our votes.

Block producers can organically induce votes, as there have been multiple allegations of collusion. block.one, the publisher of EOS and the global community have been working on wqays to solve this.

There have been many proxies, set up. They have an agenda or ethos they want to push, and do all the research for you. Only 33% of EOS holders vote, and the EOS community is looking at ways to increase that.

With that in mind, this series is dedicated to the block producers we have interacted with and how helpful they have been.

Cypherglass

Rob Finch, CEO of Cypherglass, is helping with the largest issue: mainstream adoption. His youtube videos explain how to get on EOS and what it means for the larger community. I met Rob at a conference and he was really happy to talk and we discussed ideas.

EOS Dublin

Isaac Peterson helped us with EOS Bootcamp. At the beginning, we were clueless and as non coders we appreciated the financial implications but struggled as well. EOS Bootcamp is the perfect place for anyone to start learning about EOS

EOS Authority

Roshan from EOS Authority is very helpful, and is always assisting EOS users on their telegram chat. One of the reasons I love EOS is everyone, no matter their position in the community will offer help and assist other members.

EOS 42

As a pioneer in the EOS world, David Packham is always active on telegram and has been very helpful to us. After conversations with him and meeting him at the coinweb meet up, he is a forward thinking individual who is realistic.

EOS RIO

Thiago and Luiz from EOS RIO are very nice individuals and come from the block producer who created the SimplEOS wallet. This wallet is very useful to people and has a very nice interface, perfect for the end user with the voting options available.

EOS Nairobi

Shalom Nynde, a dApp developer was really helpful. At the beginning he explained to me about block producers and how HODL Earth can be a great onboarding mechanism once it moves to EOS. He also put us in contact with his CEO for our stablecoin.

EOS Nation

Thanks to Denis and Stephane. When I started my quest I asked Stephane to add me to all the EOS group chats. He asked me “are you sure?” and at the time I didn’t realise how many there were. Denis and Stephane are working on something really cool which I’ll post about when it’s done. They are really friendly and will help you with any questions you have. I hope to collaborate with them in the future.

EOS Cafe

Syed agreed to help us with coding, as we are moving to EOS. He was very lovely but he needs to sleep!

All in all, these block producers are really helpful and community engagement is a pivotal stone in building this relationship. I hope I get to work with them all in the future.

My next series will be on the development of projects on EOS and what they mean for us non coders
