EOSphere operate a Guild on the WAX Protocol Network providing infrastructure, services and initiatives with a focus on ensuring the health of the network, as well as assisting in the growth and adoption of the WAX Ecosystem.

Welcome to our November 2023 EOSphere Guild Update. This is where we publicly inform our WAX community of EOSphere’s last six weeks challenges and achievements, rather than just sharing them with the WAX Office of Inspector General (OIG) and peer Guilds.

This last month was a building month for the EOSphere Team. We have restructured our Perth Australia Disaster Recovery (DR) site into more of a Data Centre (DC) with services now being delivered out of Perth directly. The main reason for this change was us purchasing storage media outright (SAS, SSD, NVMe Disks) rather than leasing from an infra provider. This gives us a far better cost scaling as our Guild continues to grow.

The talk of the community this last week has definitely been the the WAX Protocol Network Tokenomics Upgrade that is currently being audited for release. I encourage you to have a read of the Explanatory Article, it’s an easy read and I’m sure will get you as excited for a sustainable WAX tokenomic future as we are. The highlights being:

  • An operating cost directly linked to network utilisation
  • Implementation of Hybrid Pay-Per-Transaction mechanism using PowerUp and Stake
  • A Variable Inflation Model that additionally has a deflationary token burning mechanism

One more thing to note.. if you have been participating in WAX DeFi, final rewards will be issued on the 20th December 2023. The WAX Team encourage you to claim, burn and unstake from DeFi at this time. Additionally the WAXE-ETH Uniswap Liquidity Pool will be discontinued in 2024, there is a new Uniswap WAXP-USDT that has been created by the WAX Team.

On to the Update:

Technical Operations

Infrastructure and services are currently operating normally and the network is well utilised as usual.

We have started providing our full WAX mainnet blocks backups using block log strides to make backups far more manageable. We wrote a medium article on the mechanism this month.

We also upgraded our Hyperion Redis and RabbitMQ software to keep in line with the latest Hyperion v3.3.9–8 our service interruption was minimal.

On the 26th November an oversight was discovered in the Atomic Assets Database configuration. There was a brief service interruption while a work around was implemented, a permanent solution will be rolled out shortly.

EOSphere WAX API Statistics (Last 2 weeks)

Global IP Distribution

As per normal global usage distribution is far and wide with the most concentrated usage being from the US, Europe and Singapore.

HAProxy Backend Breakdown

94.87% of requests are normal WAX Software requests, 5.13% are for the Hyperion API. In total over 340 Million user API requests over 2 weeks, excluding our Atomic Assets API which isn’t represented.

HTTP Response Codes

This represents the number of HTTP response codes over the last two weeks per 12 hours. Currently we serve around 20 –24 Million successful “200” HTTP requests per day. This is lower than last month where we were serving between 26–34 Million.

Top 25 Request Types

This lists the top 25 request types over the last 2 weeks, it’s quite clear that “get_table_rows” for HTTP v2.0 (46 Million Requests) and HTTP v1.1 (188 Million Requests) are still requested most by our users.

HTTP Top Referrer Data

Not all queries have referrals, but of those that did most referrals came from the WAX Cloud Wallet 48.62%, Alienworlds 12.21%, Farmers World 4.34% and iCueBot 3.78%

Please let us know in the comments if there are any specific statistics you would like to see in the next update. Elastic Stack has lots of granularity.

If you are having difficulty or are just curious in using our services you can always check uptime and availability statistics via our WAX Public Facing Service Dashboard.

Product Development

HeadsUp has completed the rewrite of code from Python to Rust. The platform is now running very efficiently and the final gremlins are being ironed out for our Beta v0.1 release.

An awesome piece of information is that HeadsUp actually picked up the Atomic Assets Database oversight as it happened and alerted our team.

The current release of HeadsUp is v0.0.188 and includes the following features:

  • Removal of the Python Ingestor Container in it’s entirety
  • All services migrated to Rust
  • Update to the traffic light system on the Home and Chain Pages to reflect node state
  • Complete GUI change and re-imagining of the alerts panel making it far simpler to view and silence alerts.
  • Low CPU utilisation :)
  • Other bugs and fixes

The next features/fixes currently being worked on are:

  • Persistent Chain view configuration
  • Customisable alert reminders
  • Customisable alert history retention
  • View alerts by time and date
  • Bugs and fixes for Beta V0.1

WAX Technical How To

If you are technically curious or interested in running services on the WAX network, be sure to have a look at our WAX Technical How To series published monthly in the EOSphere Blog on Medium.

These guides are being added to the WAX Developer GitHub.

This month we created a guide on using WAX Software Block Strides to make archiving and handling the blocks.log more manageable.
