GoodGuys Digest: Edition 3
Featuring EOSVibes, eosAfrica and Tokenika
Welcome to the third edition of the GoodGuys Digest. We are EOSphere, a standby Block Producer (BP) for the EOS blockchain network. We also manage a proxy voting account, named goodguys4eos, which can be used to assign votes to outstanding BPs under 1% of votes. With this digest we bring you good news from these Block Producers. EOSVibes is made up of a diverse and distributed group of individuals, mainly based in Europe. They describe themselves as a Decentralised Autonomous Team (DAT) and they’ve published a draft constitution in their github repository.
They have a cool block explorer.
Kyle, also known as The Awakening on YouTube, is one of the founding members of EOSVibes. He releases educational EOS videos weekly and his channel has almost 10,000 subscribers.
EOSVibes prides itself on being a block producer for dApps. Their most famous dApp HireVibes is a new type of jobs platform, aiming to disrupt the recruitment market. It will enable crowdsourcing of candidates, communication, hiring, and pay in-app functionality. There will be a snapshot on November 4th by EOS New York and an Airdrop of HVT tokens the following day. The HVT token is one of the first tokens to be featured on the the EOS Bancor liquidity platform.
In October, EOSVibes teamed up with Blockhead Capital, an LA-based digital asset hedge fund with an investment focus on staking, validating, and masternodes. According to Crunchbase, the firm has recently made a seed investment in a low-energy IoT network called Nodle. Blockhead Capital’s role within the EOSVibes team is to provide engineering and marketing support.
The EOSVibes team has hinted at the imminent announcement of several projects which have been quietly developing behind the scenes…

eosAfrica is a back-up Block Producer aiming to increase blockchain literacy in Africa. The team aims to apply block production rewards to fund the deployment of an eos.io full node at each African university. Their mission is to scale eos.io deployment across the African continent. It is called the Timbuktu Project.
With block rewards, the Timbuktu Project will include:
- Basic computer infrastructure for eos.io full node;
- Postgraduate academic programs. With a special focus on blockchain and DPoS, with emphasis on the production of relevant academic papers on software engineering, blockchain governance, and law;
- Shared university infrastructure with a focus on computer laboratories;
- DPoS and eos.io book authorship.
Khosi Morafo, eosAfrica’s co-founder, is a trained electrical engineer and has worked for over 20 years on projects centred around enterprise resource planning and business intelligence. He came across Bitcoin while researching new technologies that could support better trade across borders on the African continent and hasn’t looked back since.
Steven Msomi, also co-founder, is trained in economics and finance. He is a lecturer for an MBA course and is closely involved in various governance boards at universities in the KwaZulu-Natal province in South Africa. Steven’s role will be pivotal in spreading blockchain and EOS education across the Higher Education sector in Africa.
In other news, Block.one recently announced that the grand finale of the Global EOS Hackathon series will be held in Cape Town on December 7 this year.

Tokenika is a team of ambitious entrepreneurs from Poland. They are comprised of early adopters of BitShares, Ethereum and Steem. Their Steem account is very active with over 75 posts all relating to EOS. Tokenika has delivered a number of tools to the community, including EOS Projects and EOS Factory.
EOS Projects is an open-source directory of EOS-based applications. It relies on community input. Even if you are not a programmer, you can still contribute by adding information about new projects or you can help by creating Comparision Grids.
EOSFactory is a Python-based EOS smart-contract development & testing framework.
Code development and unit-testing involve tasks that need to be executed hundreds of times, and each time in exactly the same way and exactly the same context. Therefore those tasks need to be fully automated, as otherwise a lot of time is being wasted and, what’s even worse, a lot of additional uncertainty is introduced. Manually performed actions are prone to errors.
