A brief history of why our proxy cares about BPs under 1 percent

Source

We are EOSphere and we manage the goodguys4eos voting proxy for the EOS blockchain network. Most of our team are based in Australia; some of us think Vegemite is delicious, most of us do wrestle crocodiles, but no, we do not ride kangaroos to work.

Stereotypes aside, we do shamelessly exhibit an important Australian characteristic; supporting the underdog. Why? Because we know that there are BPs out there with extraordinary talent and commitment that not everybody knows about.

Why Do Aussies Support The Underdog?

The European settlement of Australia, starting from 1788, began with the British shipping many convicts — petty criminals from the poorest parts of England — over to the big desert we now know as Australia. We think of these convicts as underdogs because they were destined by authorities to live out the rest of their lives in chains, with little chance of success.

Ned Kelly: A Folk Hero For Underdogs

Source

Ned Kelly is a controversial folk legend in Australia. Often compared to Robin Hood, he is the most famous and notorious bushranger from the 19th century, known for his giant metal helmet. He spent his short-lived adult life on a mission to stand up for the poor. While there is debate about his intentions, many like to believe that he looked out for the underdogs in society.

Today EOS is a growing network with over 400 block producer candidates. There is lots of competition and for some BPs, its hard to get noticed. Sometimes doing a good job isn’t all that matters; it requires resources to show token holders that you’re doing a good job. We understand this, and so we try to look a little deeper, to find the ‘diamonds in the rough’. Making sure we vote for reliable and trustworthy underdogs is what keeps us up at night.

With our proxy, goodguys4eos, we assign your votes with the following minimum criteria.

The Good Guys proxy votes for producers that:

  • Have received below 1% of total network votes
  • Adhere to the {{ regproducer }} Agreement
  • Adhere to the Constitution
  • Actively Participate in the Community
  • Are successfully approved by the EOS Voter Bounties (EVB) Initiative.

The EVB aims to incentivize through bounties the development of useful EOS infrastructure by pooling proxy vote resources to support EOS Block Producers who have their on chain proposals approved.

You can proxy your vote to the goodguys4eos account at our eosvoter tool, using the command line cleos tool or by researching another voting tool. To learn more about proxy voting, read the explainer by Aurora EOS.
