In Kennan’s “Long Telegram,” the positioning of the US and Russia against each other was shown. This was at the beginning of the Cold War and highly applicable to the time. Should the same kind of thinking apply to today’s world in a post-Cold War order?

Some posit that the current world is moving toward a multipolar world order. Do you agree? Would such a development be a net good for the world? Where do you see your country in this new order?

What is your response to Huntington’s “Clash of Civilizations” hypothesis?

These discussion questions are a part of the Tufts Initiative for Leadership and International Perspective, a program that brings together student delegates from around world to our international symposium each February.
