Metaverse, a virtual parallel world.
It represents the next phase of the Internet: an always-on digital virtual world structured on top of the physical world yet independent of and interacting with it.

If God created the rules of how the real world works, who among us can define the rules of the metaverse on God’s behalf?
Can we accept the metaverse in which Mark Zuckerberg says, “Let there be light, and there was light”?
Under what rules the sun and moon rotate, and under what rules everything rises and falls. We control a fertile field in the metaverse, and there should not be a God who can press a button to control the climate, making this land a long-term drought resulting in crop failure.
Under what rules do objects move, and under what rules do storms come and go. It is a rally that we are participating in the metaverse, and there should not be a God who can press a button to control the terrain allowing a car to win easily on a rough road in the rain as if it were on smooth ground.
In other words, the reality in the metaverse should not just be the reality of the sensory experience but rather that of the existential situation.
This kind of reality does not depend on the gameplay developed by the game companies, nor should it be subject to the orders of public authorities, let alone capitals and “high-level players”. Like the seasons of rain and snow, the basic principle of the metaverse is nothing but the law of nature.
How to Rule Metaverse?
As citizens of the metaverse, our perceptions are derived from a mapping of the real world. In the metaverse:
- Simple as a virtual meeting, with a simplified environment and simulated character movements.
- Complicated as open games that begin to integrate more real-world physics rules, simulate object movement and weather, etc.
- Ultimate as in the digital twin world, strictly following real-world physics rules, even down to the density of objects, volume, mass, friction, ignition point and burst point, and other various physical properties.
Both simple and complex metaverse will need to introduce some real-world knowledge data into their rules. The difference is that different simulation levels will adopt different granularity of knowledge in their own rule engines. In a simple metaverse, all objects are considered as rigid bodies made of the same material; in a complex metaverse, the location and meaning of each traffic plate, the location and material of each speed bump, the mud and water level of the road, etc. are all introduced into the rules in order to simulate real road conditions.
It is not easy to inject real-world knowledge into the metaverse, which is run by a series of algorithms. However, algorithms have not yet learned to consult and understand “Wikipedia” on their own, and they still need highly structured knowledge data to “learn” and “grow”. This format of knowledge data is often called the “knowledge graph”, enabling algorithms to obtain cognitive capabilities. For example, an algorithm injected with the following knowledge of speed bumps will know that it should slow down below 40km/h when driving over a speed bump, and a speed limit sign should be set in front of the speed bump when designing city traffic signs.
As “indigenous people”, our knowledge of the metaverse originates from the summary of the rules in the real world. The revision of the “rules” of the metaverse relies on the addition and amendment by the knowledge graph.
Therefore, the public verifiability of the metaverse “rules” has turned into the public verifiability of the knowledge graph data on which the metaverse relies.
Constructing a high-quality knowledge graph relies on high-quality labeled data.
And if the data comes from a wide range of sources with mixed quality, it can result in consistent problems such as duplication and unclear association between data. Therefore, data cleaning and fusion are necessary to clean, integrate, disambiguate, process, reason and verify, and update heterogeneous data from different sources under the same framework specification, and finally form a high-quality knowledge base.
This high-quality knowledge data must be securely stored, managed, ensured to be scalable and be of high quality, as well as readily accessible and locatable to the data source. The blockchain-based decentralized storage technology excels at this exactly, and a decentralized knowledge graph dataset has made it possible for the metaverse to go self-running.
