Advancement in gaming technology has opened the door for an entirely new experience for gamers. The present games are becoming more smarter, more appealing and more realistic.

But have you ever wondered, what all it takes to develop a game? How a game is promoted and brought to you?

Well, in this article we will be discussing the most important phases of game development, “post-production of the game”.

From conceptualization to finalization

The game development process starts with an idea about the theme of the game. Thereafter, we move ahead to the production stage, where the programmers, coders, designers, directors, and analysts work together to bring the idea into a well-developed software called “digital game.

After passing these two phases we enter the final stage of game development which is the Post-production. In this stage, the sales and marketing team work collectively to bring the game to the target audience in an effective way.

Why post-production is important?

Essentially, a game which is developed by so many efforts from a number of people like designers, directors, programmers, and coders is required to be brought into the market. So that more people will be able to get access to the gaming product. That’s the reason why post-production is very important for improving the viewability of the game in the global space and reaching the target audience.

What all steps are involved in the post-production of the game?

There are a set of steps which are involved in the process of post-production, which are as discussed herewith:-

Testing of beta-version

Once all the bugs and other flaws are fixed in the Alpha version of the game, a Beta version is created. This beta version is sent to the quality testing department to test the game over all the vertices. Therefore, it is ensured that the game that is to be introduced in the market is finest in all terms.

Marketing

After testing the beta version of the game, a flawless and market-ready version is launched. Now, it becomes very important for the marketing team to bring the product to the maximum number of people to meet their sales target. To achieve this target, the marketers adapt to one of the mediums by which the game is promoted such as advertising, promoting the game in expos, etc.

Maintenance of game

The success of a game is not only limited to its introduction and launch, rather, but it is also required for the game developers to remain in touch with the customers. Based on the customer’s feedback, the game developers are required to take the necessary steps and fix all the issues that the gamers are facing.

Views of some of the greatest people over the importance of Post-Production in gaming

“It’s a truism in the game industry that a well-designed game should be playable immediately, with no instruction whatsoever.”

― Jane McGonigal, Game researcher

“For many game players, games exist for entertainment, for passing the time, for fun.

They are a diversionary activity, meant for relaxation or distraction — a “not- work” space where players are free to engage in fantasy narratives, amazing feats, and rewarding tasks. But what if certain games have become something more?”

― Mary Flanagan, Game developer

Summary

Therefore, for the success of a game, game developers need to work with pure dedication in all the stages involved in the game development process. Among all these stages, post-production is a very important and crucial stage to reach the sales target and market the game effectively.
