Meet Some of the Amazing Artists Behind the 9/11day.org Charity NFT Drop on the Epik Prime Marketplace

911day.org tapped Epik Prime as its selected NFT partner for their massive charity event in remembrance to the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attack. This will be Epik Prime’s first-ever innovative and interactive fundraiser and awareness campaign for a national day of service and remembrance.

This collaboration aims to release an entire NFT collection created by global artists that have ties with New York, along with digital merch from popular video games to spread awareness to the younger generation and change the sombre narrative of the event to a day of gratitude and compassion.

With this one-of-a-kind charity event, let’s get to know three (3) of the amazing artists who both have witnessed history on September 11, 2001 in New York City — Vladimir Nazarov, Cope2 and David Olenick. These artists will be included in the first (1st) of the five (5) back-to-back NFT drops on Epik Prime Marketplace throughout August and September to support 911Day.Org’s initiatives.

Vladimir Nazarov

Vladimir Nazarov is a contemporary visual artist living in New York City. As a refugee seeking shelter for himself and his family, New York was a promising city of prosperity, liberty, and joy for him, keeping that promise for over four decades now. As an artist who embraced the use of color, movement, and light, Nazarov has always felt deeply connected to the melting pot of constant motion — that is the city that never sleeps.

He always takes pride in serving the city who accepted him and his family. His company had the privilege to do several repair and maintenance services within the World Trade Center, the property that will be his actual resource in the pursuit of his need to create art. His earnings would go to funding his studio practice and keep his ability to express himself.

But on September 11, Nazarov watched in shock as the symbol of the city that had given him so

much inspiration fell before his eyes. The twin towers of the World Trade Center collapsed and took away thousands of lives. However, in that dark aftermath, he witnessed the hope of the human spirit, determined to see itself through tragedy and back into light. Today, Nazarov still maintains his studio in Dumbo, still gazes upon the skyline, and is still inspired by a city and people who will not allow tragedy to forever stop them in moving forward.

He is grateful that his art can, in some way, support a charity honoring those who lost their lives too soon and the hope and strength that rose from the ashes of their sacrifice to become the brightest beams of light in the night sky.

Aside from a contemporary visual artist, New York is also home to one of the most prolific graffiti artists in the world — Cope2.

Born as Fernando Carlo, Jr. in New York City, Cope2’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and internationally. He is a self taught artist who is a celebrated legend contributing over 35+ years to the street art culture.

Cope2 began tagging his name in the South Bronx in 1978. He developed his art style by painting his name “Cope2” on the NYC subways and streets of the Bronx, which soon became huge graffiti productions and murals throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. Even today, he still continues to receive international recognition for his distinctive, authentic, raw style.

In recent years, Cope2 has been commissioned by Time Magazine, Converse, Adidas among others. His work has even crossed into the virtual realm with appearances in video games such as Marc Eckō’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure and Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV.

Today, you can catch Cope2 in the studio painting and bringing his raw energy into abstract expressionist-style masterpieces, intertwined with his trademark bubble letters and tags on canvases. Cope2 crosses between art world, mainstream and street culture alike.

You can show your support on this once-in-a-lifetime event by purchasing NFTs from the 9/11 Collection NFTs on the EpikPrime.com Marketplace. The proceeds of this event goes a long way and can help improve the lives of the underprivileged. More than just the massive NFT drops and art exhibits, the charity event will be attended by world leaders and will feature performances from top mainstream pop artists and celebrities in the world!

David Olenick

As an artist primarily known for his drawings of food, it should come as no surprise that for 25 years he lived, worked & stuffed his face in New York City, a place universally celebrated for the quality and diversity of its cuisine.

David Olenick has been inspired by late-night gyros at Cinderella Falafel in the East Village, 50 cent hot dogs at the Gray’s Papaya on 8th Street, tacos & tantrums at Arriba Arriba in Hell’s Kitchen, pepperoni slices at any Ray’s Pizza (whether “Famous Original” or anonymous knock-off), hot noodle soup at the closest place he can find during a typically brutal winter, and countless other good, bad, & bad-but-still-good meals.

Of course, a rich & diverse cuisine reflects a rich & diverse people, and NYC is known for that perhaps above all else, particularly the matter-of-fact way we co-exist in close quarters with every kind of person you can imagine, and more than a few people you couldn’t dream up if you tried.

The palpable, seemingly unanimous feeling of warmth and community in the city that followed 9/11 was almost as unforgettable as witnessing the attacks firsthand. It felt like NYC was uniquely able to pull this off, and the world followed suit. As we face another national stress test with the COVID-19 pandemic, that feeling is noticeably lacking. If only we could all awkwardly share the large order of guac & chips at Sombrero on West 48th Street near Times Square, and hash it out the way New Yorkers have no choice but to do.
