How to Configure, Spin and Sync the Spinner Wheel

1. Click on the “Palette” icon from the top right corner of the board and select “Spinner” under “Widgets” from the drawer that opens up.

2. Both student and teacher can place the spinner on their boards. Here is how one can access various controls of the spinner.

Note: To control the spinner, i.e. to open the config options, to move it, or to spin it, one must be in the “Draw” mode. Make sure you have selected the drawing tool and not select or any other tool.

3. Click on the top left to enter wheel values and configure sync options.

One can optionally specify the background color, and color of the text with each value of the spin wheel cells. For example, take a look at the screenshot below.

This will result in the spin wheel below.

The spin wheel is preconfigured with fruit names, but one can enter anything they wish. For example, if spinner is to be used to decide current turn amongst students, one can enter their names and create a new spinner wheel as below:

4. Make sure you click one of the action buttons as described below once you are done modifying the wheel config.

“Close” to close the dialogue. “Clear” to clear all values entered and start over. “Update” to update the changes made to the spinner.

5. A few things to note:

• By default the teacher’s spinner wheel will always be replicated to the student’s board. To stop the spinner from being replicated to the student’s board, select “Toggle Replication to Students” from the “three dots” menu.
• When a teacher spins the wheel, the spin and its result will show up on all students boards.
• A student can also spin the wheel placed by teacher on their board, and the result does not get reflected on other boards (teacher and other students). A teacher can enable/disable student’s ability to spin a wheel by clicking on “Students Can Spin” in the config option.
• A teacher can also click on “Sync Student Spins” and then after a student’s spin will be reflected on all boards.
• A student can also place their own spinner wheel from the widgets.
• At any time, the person who is spinning the wheel will be shown on the board as a notification (as below). This notification is valid for both a teacher’s spin and a student’s spin (when the “Sync Student Spin” option is selected)
