Expanding EQT Ventures’ team of advisors

Axel Bard Bringéus, International Expansion Partner & Jo Bertram, Executive in Residence have recently joined EQT Ventures

When EQT Ventures launched, the team wanted to create a new kind of VC — one that didn’t just provide founders with financial support, but also the resources, skills and experience to build and grow successful global businesses. This is why the EQT Ventures team is made up — not just of investment professionals — but people who’ve had first-hand experience in creating, scaling and supporting startups.

Experts in analytics, UX, marketing, scaling, sales and more, are on hand to provide advice for portfolio companies’ founders and help them over overcome any challenges they face on their entrepreneurial journeys. EQT Ventures’ portfolio companies can also call upon the expertise of EQT’s network of more than 250 Industrial Advisors, made up of global business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Over the last few months, EQT Ventures has been adding to its team. Just a few weeks ago, we welcomed Axel Bard Bringéus, former Global Head of Markets at Spotify, as EQT Ventures’ International Expansion Partner. Today, the team is delighted to welcome Jo Bertram, former regional general manager for Northern Europe at Uber, as an Executive in Residence.

Axel Bard Bringéus will help to identify fast-growing, innovative and tech-enabled companies for support and investment in Germany.

Jo grew Uber in the UK from three team members and a few hundred drivers to a large and profitable market, with more than 50,000 drivers and more than five million riders. In her role, Jo also managed Uber’s expansion across Northern Europe. With her experience scaling a startup into a profitable business, expanding into new territories, Jo will be able to provide EQT Ventures’ portfolio companies with some insights into what that growth journey looks like and advise on how to navigate it.

“My new role at EQT Ventures allows me to take on a new challenge and focus on what I loved most about my time at Uber — taking a nascent company and helping it scale into a major international organisation,” said Jo Bertram, Executive in Residence at EQT Ventures. “EQT Ventures’ supports great entrepreneurs throughout different stages of growth. This role was a natural fit given my experience growing Uber’s business across the UK and Northern Europe, including managing its entry into Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Finland. I’m looking forward to working with the team and the fund’s portfolio companies on the growth stage of their journeys.”
