Kirsten Gillibrand Headlines Equal Citizens Town Hall
Building off our successful town hall with Andrew Yang in April, we are excited to announce the next event in our Democracy Town Hall series — this time with New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
Senator Gillibrand recently upped the ante in the race among presidential candidates to advocate for bold democracy reform by releasing the most ambitious and game-changing public financing plan thus far proposed. Under her plan, voters would receive $600 to donate to eligible candidates of their choosing. Modeled after a similar program in Seattle, this program would elevate the political power of those currently shut out of the political process.
During the town hall event, we look forward to discussing her public financing proposal in more detail — how it would work, her rationale behind it, etc — as well as her other plans to fix our democracy.
Hosting the discussion with Senator Gillibrand will be Katie Fahey, executive director of Voters Not Politicians, and former New Hampshire Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern.
The event will start at 4:30pm and will take place at 3S Arts Space (319 Vaughan St., Portsmouth, NH 03801).
