Hey there!

I can’t believe we are back to the life of cramming cases, back-to-back overnights, and drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee. Whenever I hear someone saying ‘exams are coming’, I realise that we are back to facing all the sheges in the school. Nevertheless, in the midst of all these, we need to take care of ourselves because a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

Many of us tend to experience common illnesses such as headaches, malaria, influenza, food poisoning, diarrhea, colds, and so on because of the stress we are going through in school. Thus, there is a need for us to look after our health so that we can be productive and happy. In light of this, I will share with you the healthy tips that I always follow to overcome all the sheges I have seen in school and they are:

  • GET ENOUGH QUALITY SLEEP:

I know that we are back to the life of studying very hard and reading five topics with over 1000 cases to cram. However, we still need to strike a balance between studying and resting. Make sleep your priority; less sleep makes you tired and inactive. Therefore, it is important to get at least 8 hours of quality sleep per day. This will make your brain active and also keep your body healthy. If you get enough quality sleep, you will be able to avoid illnesses such as headaches, malaria, migraines, and so on. Remember that you can only study well if you are healthy.

  • DRINK WATER OFTEN

You need to cultivate the habit of drinking water often in order to improve your health and prevent unannounced illnesses such as stomach aches, fatigue, migraines, dizziness, muscle cramps, and so on. Dehydration can cause all the problems mentioned above and this can hamper your studies. So don’t forget to drink plenty of water and bring it with you wherever you are going. Drinking water plays a big role in transporting vitamins and minerals and also helping your body to absorb nutrients to give you the energy needed to face all the sheges and also excel in school.

  • EAT A BALANCED DIET

To maintain optimal health and improve your cognitive performance, it is important for you to eat nutritious food and incorporate the habit of eating fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet. Just like sleep, what you eat determines your physical well-being. I know that it might be difficult, but try to eat at least one fruit per day. It helps to keep you in good health and prevents you from contracting illnesses such as stomachaches, food poisoning, and so on. It is when you are fit physically and mentally that you can have the strength to face your studies and also perform excellently in other activities that you are involved in.

  • MAINTAIN YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Undoubtedly, a lot of things will happen to you in school. It can be good or bad. Therefore, it is important for you to prepare yourself for any overcome and maintain your mental health. If you are feeling stressed, take a break and also talk about it. We all have that one person that listens to all our complaints. Make sure to engage in activities that make you happy. You need to be happy no matter the situation you find yourself in. Trust me, a lot of unexpected things will happen, however, do not allow that to destroy your morale or ambition. Keep pushing and working hard. Many people are rooting for you. Also connecting with like-minded people is crucial to thriving and maintaining positive mental health. If you are not mentally fit, you won’t be able to study properly as you will have a lot of things on your mind and won’t be able to concentrate on your studies. Make your mental health your priority.

Finally, if you inculcate the habit of taking care of your health, then you will be able to fight against small ailments such as flu and fever. Why wait for the illness to come to you first? Fight beforehand and mitigate health problems. Shege will come and go oooo. The worst thing is to experience it with illness. LET’S PRIORITIZE OUR HEALTH.
