It came, we showed up, showed out, and can affirm that we didn’t disappoint.

Before putting out a recap, the LSS blog wanted the EKO 4 SHOW experience to truly sink in and marinate. Using just three words to describe the dinner, “worth the hype” would suffice.

Before delving into the meat of this article, it would be a clear show of ingratitude not to give the LSS their flowers. A special thank you and well-done go out to the social secretary, Ugonna Obiozor, the welfare secretary, Janet Ikhiede, and their entire teams for a work amazingly carried out.

It was also really pleasing to see that a lot of law students followed the previous article written by the LSS Blog “the art of dining with lawyers”as you all matched and exceeded the samples shown in the moodboard. So, thank you to the writer of that post.

Alright then. Enough teasing. Let’s dive straight in.

There is really only one place to start. And that is the decor and ambience.

THE DECOR AND AMBIENCE.

The decor was absolutely beautiful. Attention to fine details was seen. The size of the hall also gave the students the necessary space needed to showcase their owambe dancing skills.

Take a look at the picture below and the arrangement, the colour combinations, the lighting, everything. Aesthetically pleasing.

Look at the backdrop for red carpet pictures. A wonderful choice of colours.

The dinner started with students being ushered in by drummers at the entrance of the hall, serenading the students with beautiful beats from their musical instruments and students responded by dancing and dropping money in their collection box, before proceeding to the red carpet area.

The red carpet area was full, as everyone wanted a picture with the full backdrop and rightfully so. Thus, some students came into the hall and got seated with the intention to go back to the red carpet once the human traffic had reduced.

Our designated photographers for that day, Fourclicks, wasted no time in taking the pictures of those that had come in.

Here are some of them.

The red carpet started at 8pm, as opposed to 5pm. Word reaching us was that students were holding torchlights for their tailors in order to get in the last amendments. To be honest, we can’t fault it. No one wants to be caught red-handed by the fashion police.

Students on the red carpet were interviewed by Goldmyne TV. They did a good job. Toluwaw was the assigned videographer for that day and truthfully speaking, he knows his onions.

Of all the red carpet pictures, these two below caught our eyes specially.

The first one of the guy, looking really good in his white agbada. You can tell that he was born for interviews. The poise, stance and ease while doing all these is noteworthy. Go on then Mr. Senator! 😂

The second picture of the lady, resplendent in her carefully ornamented attire is interesting. Her facial expression has us wondering what the interviewer asked her at that time. Maybe her CGPA? or her relationship status ? Make your assumptions. 😂

Two wonderful students, Ore and Mubarak gave us a good time on the red carpet with their questions and jokes to those who had just arrived.

Fourclicks, our wonderful photographers took charge and gave us these beautiful pictures of students on the red carpet.

The picture below is giving squad goals. Love it.
Several angles of the students seating down, whilst enjoy the company of their friends and good music were provided. Take in the aesthetics of the decor. Yum !

THE START OF THE EVENT

After the whole red carpet fiasco and when students were seated, the event opened with prayers from two students. They kept the prayers as short as possible, so as to go back to their respective tables. 😂

Item 7, you do this one. 😂

We had Ogonna perform (third picture below) as she was the opening act, followed by the live bands playing Fuji and highlife setting the mood for the dinner as students wanted to party.

The MC took over the microphone and called upon the LSS president, Olaoluwa Oguntokun who gave an opening speech. At this time, small chops and palm wine were served as appetizers and from the reviews, it tasted so good.

Moving on, we had performances from students such as Enoculate and Omolawyer performing their hit singles whilst their classmates came to the stage and supported them with love, screams and sing-alongs.

As this was going on, the main course was being served. Students had the option to pick from Jollof rice and fried rice with a combo of moi-moi or salad , Amala and gbegiri with assorted meat or Ofada rice that was loaded with different proteinous goodies.

While students were busy feasting, awards were being called and those who won their various categories were being appreciated and directed to the stage to collect their awards.

After the awards, we had another performance by a magician that scared some and left some in a state of shock because of the tricks he performed, especially the one involving the lady (Tani) with the cup on her head. The performance was a 10/10. He had the crowd control needed.

Immediately after the performance by the magician, students were called to the dance floor according to their years (Year 1 — Year 5) They came out in their packs and the live band outdid themselves. This was surely the highlight of the night as people left the stage and its environs sweating profusely.

If you’ve not been to a ‘law party’, you’re truly missing out.

The dinner came to an end at exactly 12am as students were told to start heading to the after-party location which was just an 11mins drive from the hall where the dinner was held.

Fashion reviews:

You all looked so good. As a result, we decided to do away with the fashion police this year.

It was particularly difficult picking a couple looks as the standouts from the many we saw. But it had to be done anyway.

Here are the fashion moments at the dinner that gave us arrhythmia:

  • Starting off strong we have this guy right here. The cap and the maybe intentional beads in his hair makes this such an awesome look. We loved to see it.
  • This look gave everything we were looking for and more. The fun twist on the dashiki. The abstract sewing on his trousers. The neckline and even the sleeves. Just so lovely. Amazing assessors too. His designer did such an amazing work and he pulled it off so well, the color red brought everything together.
  • I mean it’s madam financial secretary and she showed us what it means to be just that. The colour and dramatic flair of this dress made us gasp for forgotten breath. A lady in red just does something for us.
  • One word. Refreshing. You can never go wrong with green and a little orange. Our gorgeous boy showed out again with the twist in his cap.
  • There’s just something about this ankara dress. So captivating. Well done girl.
  • ‘Emi oga’ showed up for law dinner and she did not disappoint. Basically dripping with gold. Wonderful choice madam.
  • Certainly gave Daddy vibes in this Agbada. Word reaching our ears was that he had the most perfectly folded agbada at the dinner, but we know what happened after the picture was taken.
  • This is definitely a titled Chief that broke into the dinner. The timelessness of his aso oke, the horsetail, and dare we say, the awkward dancing, convinced us of that fact.
  • 10’s across the board. Stunning. Just stunning. The sheer amount of jewelry that does not overwhelm. The face art. All while seeming effortless. The most fashionable female for a reason.
  • Nahhh, law women are just too beautiful. The button detail on the sleeves definitely gave this look an added ‘oomph’. This lady was on our best-dressed list and deservedly so. She wowed us with her look from the red carpet to the dinner itself and we were left shell-shocked.
  • Take a look at more pictures for your viewing pleasure. Truly, the problem that law students have is that they too sabi. Just look at the material!

The Afterparty

You want the tea from this too? Well, sorry about that. What happens at a law dinner after-party, stays at a law dinner after party.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

We want to give a big shout-out to our various sponsors that helped with the dinner. Our headline sponsors, PurplePay, thank you so much.

Once again, well done to the social secretary, Ugonna Obiozor guided by Olaoluwa Oguntokun, the President of the Law Students’ Society. You both did well.

Shout-out to Janet the welfare secretary and Emmanuela the treasurer. Both did not have the time to change into their dinner outfit, as they ran around to make ends meet. Well done to you both and your respective teams.

To Bally, the sports secretary, who created the ‘EKO 4 SHOW’ shared Snapchat story which helped with publicity for the dinner, your input cannot be overestimated.

To the videographer, Toluwaw, well-done. You did an amazing job.

Also, the photographers, Fourclicks made up of Tobe, Babatola, Yemi and Bayo. Thank you for the amazing pictures.

If you haven’t already, take a look at all the pictures from the owambe using this link.

It came, we showed up, showed out, and can affirm that we didn’t disappoint.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is all from the blog for this academic session. We hope you enjoyed our recap as much as you enjoyed the dinner. We hope you had fun reading our blogposts throughout both semesters.

Anticipate one more post from the Content Director to wrap things up.

Until then, focus on your grind, stay happy and shey jeje.
