A Moment Of Happiness on Dare App
What’s the best thing to do during self isolation besides Netflix? That’s right, focus on crafting a product of your dream! I can surely declare that our team’s productivity has only increased since we switched to a 100% remote mode. It’s super inspiring to see the amount of A/B tests we’ve done so far for the last 6 weeks and all the positive changes that happened with the product. Thank you all for your continuous support and let’s keep up the great work! Speaking of which, here’s the weekly update. Enjoy!
Here’s why this week was exciting
🎉 A MOMENT OF HAPPINESS
It’s vital to know a point in the funel when your user becomes happy while using your product. As for Dare App this is the moment when you get the results of your challenge and find out that it was successfully completed! We have finished designing and developing screens that congratulate users when completing a challenge — and we moved them to the testing mode. They will be available in the next release for all users in both A and B test segments.
💎 EXCLUSIVE CHALLENGES IN HOME FEED ON iOS
As we reported a few weeks ago, Exclusive Challenges in the main feed is a feature that had a tremendous success and users showed so much love to it, so it will definitely become available on iOS too. Our team made it a priority so you can enjoy it in the next release.
💬 TESTIN A CHALLENGE CARD
Last week we started testing various combinations of icons on the Challenge Card. Tests results are very interesting. Users apparently prefer to have a choice selection while surfing the main feed. And they want it all: commenting, sharing via WhatsApp & downloading. So the action here is simple: bring it all together and put those buttons right next to each other, where they belong.
🤳CUSTOMIZED MAIN FEED ON iOS
We decided to check the hypothesis if putting only popular videos to the main feed will have any impact on daily retention. So we picked around 1000 videos with the highest CTRs (likes, views and votes) and have built a custom feed. We are still observing the current performance but to get clearer results we will make a split test comparison with our usual personalized algorithmic feed.
What are we doing next?
🎥 LIKES AND VOTES WILL COME ALIVE ON iOS
A few weeks ago we wrote about a new feature on Android. When a user likes or votes for a video they can see an animation with the amount of points they’ve scored. As seen on the tests results, this feature has a positive impact in the long run, so we will make it available on iOS too.
🏆 LEADERBOARD SORTED
We plan to test the Leaderboard hypothesis with sorting users based on their balance of game coins. So we will compare Points Leaderboard vs Game Coin Leaderdboard. The team has started working on the design.
🤝 COLLABORATING WITH BLOGGERS
We continue to work closely with KOLs. At that moment we have a strong partnership with several ones whose content is very close to Dare App’s content strategy. That’s why we want to test a hypothesis of increasing the registration conversion if our sign up screen will contain photos of bloggers we’ve worked with in the past.
👣 NOTIFICATIONS BECOME DEEPER WITH LINKS
We see the positive impact of promotional push notifications on users’ behaviour. So we’ll start working on a bigger task of implementing deep-links into notifications. They will allow users to open a specific screen related to the message they see in the notification. Users will be able to open a specific Challenge from other users or a specific product on the Dare App.
