Christmas is coming and the rituals of present giving, and receiving, to the people we love is back.

We have selected quirky, affordable and, above all, practical presents that will make the Festive times run as smoothly as possible. We have also made the list from stores that are accessible and widely present in the UK like Aldi, because life is complicated enough. And we will complement it with lists from other stores regularly.

1.The Bitter Orange N. 10 Scented Hurricane Candle (£20)

For a truly magnificent present, choose one of the Hotel Collection Hurricane Candles — a huge 2.5kg, four-wick option that will look stunning in front of any fireplace. The scents include the firm favourite №3 Pomegranate which comes in a beautiful glass jar with a silver lid and the citrus perfection №10 Bitter Orange, which is in an iridescent glass jar with a pale gold lid. These huge candles will burn for approximately 270 hours, meaning you can have them lit up across all Christmas, and probably the new year too! Available in stores and online from 12th December. We preferred the Bitter Orange for its calming effect, greatly appreciated, and the exotic twist.

2. Moser Roth Christmas Classics (£4.99)

A beautiful selection of hand-crafted and hand-decorated Belgian Fairtrade Christmas flavoured chocolates. Made in the UK by skilled chocolate makers, these fun chocolates are perfect for gifting at Christmas. Choose from a selection of flavours such as Praline, Orange Caramel, Salted Caramel or Christmas Pudding Truffle, based on an award-winning recipe. Available from 1st November.

3. Aldi’s Terrarium (£7.99)

If you’re trying to impress a trendy friend, colleague or family member who are into their interiors, you can’t go wrong with Aldi’s Terrarium. Available from the 15th of December, the stylish black rim glass polygon Terrarium with gold stones is available in Airplant or Succulent. Easy to care and a green addition to your life.

4. Maynard’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port (£10.99, 75cl)

Honouring the history of Walter Maynard, this fine aged Tawny shows warm amber hues in the glass. Enjoy it’s smooth texture and raisin fruit lightly chilled as a pre-dinner drink or indulge in a glass when the mood suits. The final and unexpected twist, when tasting it, makes this Port to stand out from the crowd.

5. Specially Selected Exquisite Chocolate Bauble (£14.99)

New for 2019, the Exquisite Chocolate Bauble has been crafted using a unique water cutting technology to create a striking and intricate snowflake design. Made in the UK, the Fairtrade white chocolate is infused with a gingerbread flavour and adorned with a dried fruit and nut centre. The beautiful centrepiece comes in a box with a selection of filled chocolates to give it an extra ‘wow factor’. Available from 5th December.
