Hello, and thanks for looking in. This inaugural newsletter will give a taste of what to expect upon subscribing.

The newsletter, sent monthly, will begin with a bit of chat — rather like this and just as short — and give a list of stories published since the previous newsletter. There won’t be many; I’m not that fast a writer.

My intention is to deliver links to the publication’s stories so, without having to hunt for titles, you can make a choice, relax with a cuppa, and for a few minutes… Escape into History.

Sometimes people experience an event in their lives which changes their perspective. Here’s mine: History in my Landscape.

Archaeology sheds light on the tangible remains of previous lives. Occasionally, discoveries include buried treasure which rewrites History: The Sutton Hoo Ship Burial.

There’s a quick taste, but what’s to come?

Future stories will include the most famous castle in Scotland (not Balmoral) and Viking dragon ships that defied historians, again. There seems to be a lot of that about. For ease of navigation within the publication, stories are separated along a timeline — Prehistory, Saxon/Viking, Medieval/Tudor — more being added, so do dip back mid-month.

Come join me and… Escape Into History.

Regards, Linda Acaster
