i dont know how to do this
will someone please
tell me how
to do
this

how to stitch a heart back together
once its been ripped apart

the fingers of my own peoples
gripped around a chamber
and wrenching it towards them for
their lives and in ownership
and the fingers of our cousinkin
gripped around a chamber
and wrenching it towards them for
their
lives
too

and both pleading with me, each other, the world
to be
heard
seen
held
felt
saved
valued
witnessed
loved

for no one can hear them

and everyone else speaking and shouting
providing commentary from the sides
and pointing at us all
and pointing at each other
as we tear and wrench and rip

and i dont know how to do this
will someone please
tell me how
to do
this

Written 14th October 2023, on the double grief felt for Israel/Palestine.

Photo of a pink paper heart that’s been early ripped straight down the middle but not quite. It’s had a hole punctured on each side at the top, and has a string threaded through, on which it’s hanging against a black background.
