a poem on shame, pain, truth, and liberation

we are embarrassed and
ashamed
by the truth.

so we perceive and pretend
that the truth
hurts; that it’s an attack.

but when the truth hits
the discomfort you are feeling
is not pain.

it is the rawness
of liberation.

for in that moment of truth
you are present

there is no time.
there is no world.
you are the universe.

and the chaos of the white hole
of you - that is all possibility
for creation

seems to ache -

for there is nothing for
your brain to hold

on

to

for distraction
for shelter
for pleasure
for warmth
for connection

your pure existence of
brightdark ether
is true violence.

so you turn away and hide
from honesty

wrapped up and held by
the comfort of existential defensive anxiety.
