ESOTERIA is a publication that takes a deliberate look at all things unknown. Our mission statement is to better understand the human condition through engaging with fields and experiences that have been otherwise dismissed.
We’re interested in work that is measured and thought-provoking. We aim to emphasize radically compassionate thinking and err on the side of optimism. We welcome any and all perspectives backed by the motivation of moving human consciousness forward.
What, specifically, are we looking for?
We’re looking for personal essays, interviews, research papers, open letters, meditations, book reviews, and any other formation of words and photos that takes a measured look at the unknown, mystical, magical, supernatural, miraculous, and metaphysical.
We’re looking for work that takes a step back from our assumptions and conditioning to question the bigger picture.
Have you discovered parallels between two seemingly unrelated fields like dark matter and the unconscious or narrative and the fabric of reality? Do you want to investigate the brilliance of Co-Star and the impact of astrology on our modern society, defend your life’s calling as a tarot reader, or teach others how mythology can enrich their lives?
Tell us your ghost stories and what you found out when you opened the Akashic Records. We want to know how spell casting changed your life and what the plants told you the last time you tripped on mushrooms or meditated in the forest. Tell us what the modern person could learn from Helena Blavatsky and what Carl Jung was onto with Kundalini Yoga. There is no box. Take a deep breath... What do you want to tell us?
How to Submit
You may email your most magical pitches, drafts, and previously published work to email@example.com.
For pitches, please use 1–2 paragraphs to outline your piece: what it’s about, whether it’s researched-based or experiential, how you’ll execute it, its approximate length, and what twists and turns we should expect. If you’re submitting a full draft or previously published piece, please attach your unpublished Medium draft / published Medium link to the email, natch.
If you’re submitting a finished piece, please make sure it’s polished. We’re keen to work with you but we will not respond to messy work.
Allow up to two weeks for a response. If you don’t hear back within two weeks, you may assume that your story is not right for us at this time. One submission at a time, please, and don’t hesitate to resubmit new drafts after a couple months.
Thank you for reading and we look forward to working with you!
