“Food and Gaming”-GrubQuest is a New Application that Gives League of Legends Players Coupons and Deals to Local Restaurants for Playing the Game.

Grubquest was designed by a group of college students that wanted discounts on food, in a way that was also fun for them. Grubquest is a service that provides coupons to local restaurants through completing certain tasks in League of Legends, an online video game. With the games popularity growing every day, more and more players are able to take advantage of this convenient way to earn some deals on local food. As a user of the product, I can say that getting cheaper food, while playing a game I enjoy, is a win-win situation.

The Grubquest application is easy to use and takes you through, step by step, how to use the service. After a brief sign-up form, the website helps you link and verify your League of Legends account. After linking your account, you are ready to begin earning fantastic coupons and deals. You earn these deals by accepting different “quests” that have you play the game in a certain way. After completing these “quests” you earn coupons to use at local restaurants for carryout or delivery depending on which “quest” you accepted. Along with the website, Android phone users are able to download an application that allows them to use the service. There is no application for iOS phones as of yet, but it is being worked on.

Grubquest was launched early May and was created by a group of friends from the University of Michigan. According to one of its founders the company is not yet profitable. “[The site was created] out of love for the game, friends, and food” says Jeff Zhang. The site is still in its early stages and they are looking for feedback from users in order to improve the service. From my experience, the service is wonderful and I have earned multiple deals on food that have helped me grab a bite when funds are low. I am excited to see how the site improves and if they will add different games to the service.

This is a great service to use for any gamer, whether you are strapped for cash or not. Saving money on food can benefit anyone, and this service allows players to earn those savings while playing the game they enjoy. Games and food go well hand in hand with each other and this service makes the pairing easy and enjoyable.
