Esprezzo is Making Blockchain App Development Accessible with Programmable Middleware
The beauty of blockchain is that it presents a completely blank canvas for enterprises, consumers and software developers to produce applications that can impact nearly every industry imaginable. Unfortunately, the qualities that make blockchain so enticing also obstruct rapid application development.
This very predicament is what led to the introduction of Esprezzo — the Boston-based startup making blockchain development accessible through the creation of a programmable middleware.
Development on blockchain shouldn’t be limited to expert engineers with full-stack DevOps and cryptography experience.
The Esprezzo Solution
Esprezzo offers engineers of all skillsets a solution to these barriers. Our blockchain-as-a-service offering doesn’t require knowledge of software languages such as Go, C# and C++, making it usable for both front-end and back-end engineers. And, with a middleware that is 100 percent integrated with the Ethereum Protocol and GraphQL, Esprezzo’s MainNet will allow developers to control their applications’ data across a variety of blockchains and networks.
The team bringing you Esprezzo has experienced blockchain’s limitations first-hand.
Proofs of Concept
Throughout our work on CampusTap, we recognized an opportunity to replace our existing OAuth-based authentication system with one built on the blockchain. However, when prototyping the proof of concept, we found blockchain development inaccessible to our JavaScript dev team.
We also discovered the constraints of running a data-rich application like CampusTap on public blockchains like Ethereum.
Having existing partnerships with over 60 organizations and reaching over 1 million accounts worldwide allows us to use CampusTap for one of our core proof of concepts.
Our first proof of concept will lean on our social application development knowledge by offering a blockchain-based community. Esprezzo users will have a place to ask questions and receive support from other developers using the platform. Users will be rewarded with tokens based on their activity within the community and the support they offer other developers — the more helpful they are to the community, the more tokens they will receive for providing value to the community.
Looking ahead to 2018, CampusTap’s entire backend infrastructure will be migrated to blockchain using Esprezzo — representing a hallmark data-rich application built entirely on blockchain.
We will be publishing weekly (if not bi-weekly) Esprezzo announcements through Medium and our other community networks.
