It’s not the pain itself that rouses me.
It’s the prescience.
Anticipation;
knowing it’s coming, but not when, or how.
It’s the interludes.
In-between moments;
a flood of fresh blood surge to resurrect.
It’s the mild caress.
A touch of a hand;
warm lips replace cold leather with a kiss.
It’s the aftermath.
Tangy throes and throbs;
recall strings of visceral reminiscence.
It’s the evidence.
Marks that morph and fade;
leave vacancies pining to be filled anew.
