With the police killing Amir Locke as he groggily awoke to stare down at the barrel of a handgun, I again asked the following question — what causes Minneapolis to kill Black men in the cruelest ways possible?

The city slaughters Black men in unconscionable ways. Jeronimo Yanez shot Philando Castile in 2016 during a traffic stop in front of his lover and child, who had to watch him bleed out. Last year, Kim Potter killed Daunte Wright in front of his girlfriend during a traffic stop. Derek Chauvin tortured George Floyd in display of his community for nearly nine minutes. Before the murder was complete, Floyd cried out for his mother as if he was a slain soldier on a foreign battlefield. The video of Locke’s death…
