We need to consider language factor and choose the fonts with multilingual versatility and comfortable screen reading.

Cultural UI differences in Currency&Promotion

Currencies are very different as well.As one of the most important information of e-commerce, Currency&Promotion design must be paid more attention to.

We studied and summarized the information display habits of different currencies, special abbreviations in different countries.

The position of the currency rate relative to the number is different between countries .And the way to used as decimal separator“.”or “,” is different too.

Special abbreviations for price numbers

Indonesia have special abbreviations for price numbers.

Rp12rb =Rp12,000 (Rb = Ribu = Thousand), Rp2.5jt = Rp2,500,000 (Jt = Juta = Million),and “Rp 75rb” is more localized than “Rp75k”.

Cultural UI differences in Content Length

Sometimes when translating from English to Bahasa Indonesia, the new content may become about 30% longer.

We need to consider this so can make the correct button size. In this way, we’re able to display our final content comfortably in all languages.

Cultural UI differences in Icons&Symbols

Cultural and religion also affect Icons & Symbols design.Make sure we are using appropriate symbols and icons that the meaning is collect.

For example,87% of Indonesian is Muslim and have custom and rule for outfit .It’s not suitable to use skirt icon for “Women’s Fashion”.

Design for UI component, we really needs to fully consider if there is any cultural influence, like Language,Icons&Symbols,Content Length…
