He smiled.
She asked briskly: “What?”
“Nuthin.”
“No. That smile means something.”
“You’re beautiful, that’s all.”
She squinted and looked around the room and looked back to him: “What did you do?”
“Nuthin.”
“No. You must’ve done something.”
“Nope. You’re beautiful, that’s all.”
She softened and walked towards him: “Why do I think you’ve done something?”
“I don’t know.”
“Hm. Your smile seems guilty.”
He shrugged and chuckled: “You’re beautiful. I can’t smile at the woman I love? Isn’t that enough to make me smile?” he kissed her cheek, “Now, I gotta go vote.”
She smiled.
